I am no expert but it seems very grainy and this may be due to the high ISO which perhaps was unnecessary on such a well lit subject.

Saratu: High ISO was a mistake cos i had just taken a shot where i needed it but forgot to change it again. Silly me. Thanks i will keep that in mind next time.

Very nice and original. There is a timeless quality to the picture that really stands out. Could have been in the 40s or 60s. I guess the background and color help a lot. Great work.

This is a nice capture, I love the tones in it, Saratu, you asked what to do, to imprive.
I hope you don't mind that i will just tell you what I would do, I see your shadow, so she is looking into the sun, try to avoid that, that is why her eyes look kind of sad, try to get the sun on the side, than go through your knees, so that you are on her level, turn her that far that the baby is seen on her back, but also see the face of your cousin, the ISO has already been discussed.
But that is only how I would take the picure....

I think this shows an 'old head' on 'young shoulders' - a huge responsibility for a little one.

Well with children it's always nice to shoot them at eye level. It's a nice capture though. Works as is. But eye level and full length would give it a totally different mood.

Astrid has said almost everything I would have said, Saratu, but the key thing is don't look down on a subject like this but get down to their level; this would automatically eliminate your own unwelcome shadow from the shot.

As for the high ISO and grain, I say bravo! In this earthy, gritty, muted-colour shot it enhances the atmosphere rather than detracting from it.
